Well, today is my 33rd week. Oh, Merry Christmas everyone *BIG GRIN*
I've been busy- what can I say?
So I had my midwivery appointment today and I found out that I have Group B Strep. BASICLY a quick rundown of what it is this:
A lot of people carry it, although it's USUALLY found in the colon. Some women (30% or so) carry it vaginally which is dangerous when you are pregnant and about to have a baby.
This is a partial rundown via Midwife.org:
"Group B streptococcus (GBS) is a beta-hemolytic gram-positive organism commonly found in the intestinal tract. Ten to 30% of pregnant women are colonized with GBS vaginally and/or rectally (1,2,3,4). Vaginal colonization is usually asymptomatic, but GBS can cause urinary tract infections, amnionitis, endometritis and/or wound infections. GBS can also result in severe infection in newborns. Early-onset neonatal Group B streptococcal disease is most frequently evident as sepsis, meningitis and/or pneumonia that appears within the first seven postnatal days. At present, GBS is the leading cause of neonatal sepsis and one of the most common causes of infectious morbidity and mortality in neonates (5). Because the case fatality rate of early-onset GBS infection in neonates is 5%-22% (6), a strategy for prevention of this disease is of vital importance."
So now that I am told I have it- what does that mean? Basicly that when I go into labor, I need to get at least a dose ( 2 doses are recomended) of antibiotics (Pennicillin) to prevent the baby from coming into contact with the infection. That is the dangerous part of it. It is very very dangerous for the baby. If infected, signs in the baby tend to occur usually within the first six hours after birth, and most by the seventh day of life. This infection can cause inflammation of the baby's lungs, spinal cord or brain. About 15% of these babies will die from the infection
This basicly means that I will probably be choosing not to labor at home once I do go (or my membranes rupture) to make sure I am getting these antibiotics ASAP. Kind of a thorn in my side, unfortunately. C-sections also do not prevent the risks, however they do lower them.
So, fun fun fun. At least I passed my 3 hour glucose test and Im not diabetic (few weeks back I failed the first 1 hour- but passed the 3 hour).
So, from here it's all on the countdown. I'm in nesting mode.
Happy New year all.
This is a test, and is only a test. If this were a real blog, it would be followed by something incredibly interesting and funny...

Countdown Starts....
"This is day number 210 and you're 30 weeks pregnant!
You have 70 days or 10 weeks left, and are 75.0% of the way there.
Baby's age since conception is 196 days or 28 weeks. You are due on 2/13/2006."
So, 10 more weeks to go. PHEW! Baby is kicking my bellybutton out at the moment.

Hauntings from a Christian perspective
Recently my best friend sent me some images her family members took on their cell phone of recent paranormal happenings, including faces, forms, and levitating Bibles.

After contemplating this a bit I came to this website with a christian perspective on ghosts and hauntings that make a lot of sense to me.
I have had personal experinces with the paranormal from the ouija board to more intimate experiences, and since I have developed my relationship with God I havent struggled with it as I once did.
I reccomend you read over his page. :-)

Broken Birthing
Well, I've hit 24 weeks now, and I'm also considering exactly what my plan will be in birthing this kiddo.
Unfortunately- I must have pulled a muscle or really irritated my lower back sciatic, because I'm in a world of hurt today. It really put into perspective the next 111 days ahead of me and my seperated symphysis, or seperated pubic bone.
After reading a few articles on WHAT on earth I might be able to do to relieve myself of any more discomfort from this condition, I am finding my hope is bleak.
Not only is there very little I can do right now to make this feel better, but there is a whole lot more I HAVE to do to prevent it from getting worse. Lists of ways I cant bith, "NO induction, no epidural, no laying on your back, no laying on your side, no this, no that..." Really all I found I was allowed to do was squat, sit and stand.
This is very frusterating since, when you get to that point, your muscles twitch and shake and you dont feel like bearing any load on them. I had my heart set on the same type of birth I had with Daniel. I went into labor with him the morning after his due date, birthed in the tub for 45 minutes (in that time went from 3-10 cent) and after 15 min of pushing, out came a healthy vibrant, awake and curiouse little boy. NO pain meds, no induction, just good old fashion body endorphins, midwife, hospital comforts away from multiple needy kiddos, and love.
When I broke the news to the main midwife at my clinic I finally had the chance to meet, she folded her hands in her lap and looked at me as if I had just informed her I had cancer. Very somber and empathetic. They just had a few ladies give birth with the condition recently.
Where am I mentally now? Well, I'm hopeful. I'm hopeful that it will be swift and easy and memorable. How many people have 6 pregnancies in 7 years? This may very well be my last, and I might as well enjoy every last painful bit. :-)

Kerosene Soaked Toilet Paper- With Video
This is awesome. I totally want to do this if it wont piss my neighbors off more than they are already for no apparent reason.
Just not sure if anyone would want to walk all the way down our driveway to our house....
Kitty Litter Cake
This cake tastes SO GOOD! And it's totally gross to look at.
Ingredients:
1 (18 oz.) box spice or german chocolate cake mix
1 (18 oz.) box white cake mix
1 pkg. white sandwich cookies
1 large box vanilla instant pudding mix
12 small tootsie rolls
1 litter box (preferably a NEW one!)
1 plastic scoop
green food coloring
Preparation:
Prepare cake mixes and bake according to directions (any size pans).
Prepare pudding mix and chill until ready to assemble.
Crumble white sandwich cookies in small batches in blender, they tend to stick, so scrape often.
Set aside all but about 1/4 cup.
To the 1/4 cup cookie crumbs, add a few drops green food coloring and mix using a fork or shake in a jar.
When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble into a large bowl.
Toss with half the remaining white cookie crumbs and the chilled pudding. You probably won't need all of the pudding, mix with the cake and "feel" it, you don't want it soggy, just moist; gently combine. Put mixture into clean litter box.
Put three unwrapped Tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until soft and pliable. Shape ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly. Repeat with 3 more Tootsie rolls and bury in mixture.
Sprinkle the other half of cookie crumbs over top. Scatter the green cookie crumbs lightly over the top, this is supposed to look like the chlorophyll in kitty litter.
Heat remaining Tootsie Rolls, three at a time in the microwave until almost melted.
Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with cookie crumbs.
Place the box on a newspaper and sprinkle a few of the cookie crumbs around.
Serve with a new pooper scooper.

Finally we have the home phone on... My number is *edited out*, we will apply for ADSL this week we were told it'll be 2 weeks (Indian time who knows?) at least we will be on 256K...
Well still no luck with the internet/GPRS on my phone, I gave the phone to a son of a mate of Brian's to fix last week, and I keep hearing tomorrow, tomorrow!!!
I am getting a bit board of the Indian food and have started cooking more at home. We have have an on going joke about Indian food.... They must hate food because the cook the "crap" out of everything, to make it all the same texture.... MUSH.... Add spices so you cant taste the ingredients.... So... HOT MUSH
Last week I had a quite night on Friday, my 'kids' all 5 of them are doing their assignments, they are doing very well. I will be accessing their work on Wednesday.
I worked for 3 hours on Saturday. In the afternoon some students escorted me to a village 3kms past our college. Where I met Brian for a cruse on our motor bikes. We went about 30ks and stoped by a "2 cow" town for a break. We became the highlight of the town, people came out of no where and started to crowd us and asking all sorts of question about Australia.
The elders then took us to see 2 temples they have, the second is about 100m out of the village was quite strange, it had icons from all religions, they kept asking for us to take shots. I have been told & I now believe that the mere fact of us taking time to take their photographs is enough for them, they don't expect prints or money. They wanted nothing for us just our time.
My bike skills are getting better, avoiding the pot holes, dogs, goats, donkeys, horses, cows. On coming autos, people, cars and buses... I came off once but it a low speed skid on a gravel near home, I am ok but twisted my wrist. I have now got bike gloves and looking for a open face helmet.
On Saturday night we were invited for dinner party at a students place Abdullah from Oman, he is nearly 50 and has 2 wives (looking for a 3rd) and 6 kids at home. He is in the armed forces and is in training to start a photographic department of the air force. But the department is now closed down, his funding is still flowing so this is his 3rd year of a 2 year course. What a strange night, there were Tanzanian students at the local pharmacy college, High ranking officers from armed services from
India, Tanzanian, Middle east and Asia who are at a local Military college, and us!!! We had middle eastern food (great to eat meat again!!) and African food he flew out from home, which was a bit bland. We spent the night learning to dance African, its all about loose shoulders and hips. Brain and I keep saying to each other " Who would have imagined 20 years ago at Prahran college we would be doing this"
Some of the younger students who had their own gathering at the students compound/apartments, decided they wanted us to join them. So some of them came by Abdullah's house to pick us up, so in the middle of the night we were whisked off to another party. Well at 6 am I fell asleep on the floor (out lasting most of them at almost twice their age!!) to be awaken at 7.30am by the cleaner who wanted to talk to me, I couldn't find anyone in the house so I promptly walked out and "autoed" home. Brian who didn't go to the second party, was up so we talked and went rode into town.
Met up with the students for a recovery lunch and rode off to a Naturel hospital for a massage. What a strange place the place it was, it looked like something from the film "One flew over the cuckoo's nest" Its sort of like a "health spa" from the 30's with weird old contraptions for hydro therapies etc. It looked as if remained unchanged since the British left... And probably uncleaned as well... The massage was with 2 man and LOTS of aromatic oils, I felt like I was being prepared for to be deep fried. I thought the massage was crap but for $8.. It was worth the visit.
Today was mad at the college Igbal was finishing a 4 day course for 35 under grads from a near by Uni, Brian started a 7 day course with 8 students. The short courses are hard work because you have to teach or demonstrate the whole time. I don't start that until the 7th Nov... Digital then the week after fashion....
I still haven't worked out why the siren goes off at 6 am and 6pm, I have asked several people they just do the head wobble. Which I cant work out as well. When you ask a question they go silent and "wobble".... Huh?

Moving to India
I wanted to share a friend of mine with you who I hold dearly to my heart.
Dominic Hsieh or 'Dom' is a professional fashion photographer friend who has recently chosen to take a photography teaching position at an exclusive school in India, moving from Australia.
This is new and exciting to him, and full of opportunities which he has had to make sacrifices for.
I have been wondering how he has been doing, and I recently got an email from him, so I wanted to share with you what he wrote to me:

Virus or something more?
Abbie has had a high fever for the past 3 days, today being the third day. She is 6 years old, has had a bit of a runny nose, and her fevers have been 104.3 or so. NOW she has developed a rash- so I was sure it was Roseola.
Only 1 problem- I cant find anything on it being found in kids older than 4 yrs old. Jacob had roseola just last month, so I realized the symptoms right away when her rash was noticable today. Im just concerned that it might have something to do with her Polyarticular JRA (Juvanile Rheumatoid Arthritis), which would upgrade it to Systemic JRA- the worst kind yet.
*UPDATE* Finally, after the rash and then a horribly runny nose the last day of her sickness, everything cleared up. Just a Yucky flue. Apparently, the boys have it now, too. Fun, fun, fun.

For now checking my herbal books to see what I can take that is safe during pregnancy. :-)

Who let the Fish out of the Pond?
We have been troubleshooting our waterfall/pond since the day we moved in. We are shooting for sometime this month to get it all completed, but so far we're just waiting.
In the MEANTIME, the pond has been a cesspool for mosquitoe larve, and draining it left a big, sore hole in the side of our yard that would only fill again with rain and sprinkler water.
We decided to let the pond be filled, and instead- put some nice fish in there. We were warned that the last owners had a rough time keeping the pond stocked with fish because of the birds of prey in the area. We took our chances.
Since we live right on the river, and Spokane River fish are reccomended to NOT be eaten- we caught a bunch of small fish, and recently a few pike and a carp and just threw 'em in there. So far, the small fish have been in there a month, and there has been no bug problem. We only caught the carp a day or so ago, and figured it would do well- probably eat the other fish... nope.
Today I went out there, its on the bottom bellyside up, dead.
I couldnt figure out why, but such is life. Yesterday we battled the water dispenser for the whole thing because the floater broke off, gushing water everywhere. Seems we have some escapees because of it.
As I was carrying this dead fish carcass via the metal rake down to dispense in the river, I noticed a dead fish laying on the wooden pathway. "That's odd." I said, and thought of the birds of prey. As I continued down the path, there was yet another fish carcass, this time on the lawn. I tossed the dead carp into the river and headed back up to the house.
Jay is pretty sure the unfortunate fishies escaped through the water overflow pipe as the water was flowing through it. Didnt quite make it back to the river, Im afraid. But you have to give them an 'A' for effort.

The New Thing
I noticed something new today, and really- it's quite funny.
Jacob has been following me around all day like this:
JACOB: "MAMA?"
ME: "Yes, Jacob."
JACOB: "Ummmm...... no."
*blank stare from mother*
JACOB: "MAMA?"
ME: "What?"
JACOB: "Ummmm.... no."
There has been no end, and the day is still young.

9 Week Ultrasound
I had my first ultrasound for this pregnancy a few weeks ago, and also my first 3-D ultrasound. It's funny how when you want something so bad- like the ability to videotape and get a 3-D of your ultrasound, it's not available, yet when you least expect it, both options are available.
Here is my 9 week 3-D ultrasound image. I will be getting them every 2 weeks or so, which will be interesting to say the least.

What do you get when you feed the birds?
Fat birds.
No lie.
I have this one fintch like little tweety bird who sits on the bird feeder outside my office window. He's looking a little chunky, babe.
I'll see if I can get a picture.

Going on a trip.
Well, we are planning on driving down to L.A. from the 14th of this month until the 27th. I have a full schedule before we leave and after, so it's a tight squeeze.
Jay will be able to write a lot of the big stuff off as business, since we are driving down for his completion of a Cypress Hill XBOX music video for a new paintball game they have coming out.
My only reserves of taking the trip are the fact I should really have my blood checked every 2 weeks, due to a possible blood problem in pregnancy.
A short rundown of the situation is this:
-When I was pregnant with Daniel my blood was tested, and was fine.
-When I immediately got pregnant with Jacob, my blood was tested (as it always is) and it showed I had developed an antibody to the Big and little 'E' Antigen, which is simply a blood trait my husband carries. We are figuring this happened through a brief blood transfusion my son and I had during birth where his blood passed with some of mine.
- This is not harmful to me, but if I have any cildren from here on out, they may carry the antigen (50/50% chance) and basicly my body will start fighting the baby off, starting with their red blood cells.
This is very similar to the RH factor problems some women have in pregnancy where their baby carries an incompatible blood type from the mother's only they can be treated with medicine.
The doctors will keep an eye on me by drawing my blood every few weeks and checking my titres, or white blood cell count, to see if my antibodies have raised. If that happens, then I need an ultrasound to monitor if the baby has edema, or swelling, which is a side effect of my body attacking it- and if that happens, I have 2 choices.
1.) Give the baby a blood transfusion, in utero, which will buy it a little bit of time
2.) Take the baby out
Those are my two choices, and obviousely if I am too early on in my pregnancy for the baby to be viable outside the womb, a blood transfusion is our only hope, and that only buys a very very short period of time. I may very well, ultimately kill my own child in utero.
So, again- this is only if the baby DOES carry the antigen, and I still have a chance of them not (i.e. Jacob did not carry it).
The antigen does not hurt anyone in life- the only hurtful thing is the fact that I would be supporting a baby who has an antigen my body already has the antibody for, and will destroy first chance it gets.
So, we will have to see. I'm curiose as to my titre ciunt from my blood test last week- we shall see. :-)

Starting Over
Well, I found out I'm pregnant again. :-)
My technical due date is February 20th, 2006 and the morning sickness has just begun. This is something I have to get used to again, since i havent really had morning sickness for over 5 years.
This time I decided to 'break' the news all at once to everyone and get it over with. My mother acted as if she already knew- but I'm sure she's a little shook up.
Frankly- I really dont care about other's opinions on the topic. Jay is very happy, as am I, and really- we would like one more after this and be done. We feel like 6 is a very realistic number for our family. Just because some people cant cope with the idea of having 6 kids doesn't mean it's not realistic for others.
:-) So at this point, I cant wait to start showing. Abbie is very very into it and she tells me every day how happy she is there is a baby in my tummy which is darling.

I had this dream...
...and i was walking through the mob's underground hideaway where they relax and hang out, I was going to be their personal secretary. The whole place was right out of the 60's... no DVD players or Cds- all 8 tracks and turn tables. I fell in love with the furniture and I had tears in my eyes as I told them I would love to use their stuff in my photoshoots.
They all called me their own, and said I could clean as much as I wanted there.
Awww, how nice.... *pours another cup of coffee*... I joined the mob.

Run Away!
Today I was seriousely thinking about some tough decisions I have had to make, and some situations I've come in contact with.
I've been listening to some friends who have gotten themselves into a bigger mess than I could possibly conceive a happy solution for- and I wonder how close I am to mistakes like that? It's very simple to fall down that rabbit hole.
Well, I have given people advice in the past what to do when they are faced with something that feels wrong, but they are curiouse about.
"Run away." I say. "Run away."
After a hot and active weekend day today, Jacob (my 21 mo old) came up to me asking for a drink. His head was sweaty, and I knew what he wanted was pop from the fridge. Instead, i offered some of my ice cold decaf chai tea that I had just taken a drink of.
At first, Jacob saw me drink from it, and he eagerly waited for me to share the drink. The minute he got his face into the mug and looked at it, he turned around, and ran away as fast as he could, which is very typical for him to do when he doesnt want something.
Watching his sillouette get smaller and smaller and dissapear downstairs, it occured to me that this was the perfect solution!
If something doesnt seem right, your not sure what it is- even if it looks like it might have been okay for someone else, run away. Keep yourself from trouble.
My chai tea was not trouble- it was just something Jacob knew he didnt care for, and didnt want to come in contact with. He ran as far as possible to avoid an uncomfortable situation. What a great idea!

She's so BAAAAD...
...and I am. Really, it takes pther people doing a good job at keeping their blog in working order to make me realize I have neglected mine.
As of late, I have been neck deep in stock photography heaven. I just received my new LG1400 Cell phone from Cingular Wireless, and I love it.

Ive been taking some pretty awesome shots, and I am very happy about it. Once theyre accepted into the stock photo site I belong to, maybe Ill remember to post a link *wink*
