Going on a trip.

Well, we are planning on driving down to L.A. from the 14th of this month until the 27th. I have a full schedule before we leave and after, so it's a tight squeeze.

Jay will be able to write a lot of the big stuff off as business, since we are driving down for his completion of a Cypress Hill XBOX music video for a new paintball game they have coming out.

My only reserves of taking the trip are the fact I should really have my blood checked every 2 weeks, due to a possible blood problem in pregnancy.

A short rundown of the situation is this:
-When I was pregnant with Daniel my blood was tested, and was fine.
-When I immediately got pregnant with Jacob, my blood was tested (as it always is) and it showed I had developed an antibody to the Big and little 'E' Antigen, which is simply a blood trait my husband carries. We are figuring this happened through a brief blood transfusion my son and I had during birth where his blood passed with some of mine.
- This is not harmful to me, but if I have any cildren from here on out, they may carry the antigen (50/50% chance) and basicly my body will start fighting the baby off, starting with their red blood cells.

This is very similar to the RH factor problems some women have in pregnancy where their baby carries an incompatible blood type from the mother's only they can be treated with medicine.

The doctors will keep an eye on me by drawing my blood every few weeks and checking my titres, or white blood cell count, to see if my antibodies have raised. If that happens, then I need an ultrasound to monitor if the baby has edema, or swelling, which is a side effect of my body attacking it- and if that happens, I have 2 choices.

1.) Give the baby a blood transfusion, in utero, which will buy it a little bit of time
2.) Take the baby out

Those are my two choices, and obviousely if I am too early on in my pregnancy for the baby to be viable outside the womb, a blood transfusion is our only hope, and that only buys a very very short period of time. I may very well, ultimately kill my own child in utero.

So, again- this is only if the baby DOES carry the antigen, and I still have a chance of them not (i.e. Jacob did not carry it).

The antigen does not hurt anyone in life- the only hurtful thing is the fact that I would be supporting a baby who has an antigen my body already has the antibody for, and will destroy first chance it gets.

So, we will have to see. I'm curiose as to my titre ciunt from my blood test last week- we shall see. :-)
