Unfortunately, I refuse to lay down and obey, so I tend to be more of a pain than my medical professionals like, I think.
Im not rude or mean- Im just really informed, I like to ask questions and have a lot of control in the different processes that I go through and most holier-than-thou doctors and the nurses that adore them clash with my flambouyance.
I also get frusterated when I KNOW that there are things people can do to make life easier for me, only they feel they have the professional right to make life easier on themselves, instead.
Like nurses who flick on the bedroom lights in the hospital at 3 in the morning to take vitals- at this point in my life, they would be lucky if I let them off with any accompolishment in their vital's-taking-journey, let alone without a toungue lashing.
I swear Im going to post a rules of this room on my door when I give birth, or at least a warning sign.
"WARNING! Informed and opinionated mom inside. Medical Personell Beware!"
On top of that, I really feel I need the hospital stay for my peace of mind which almost seems like an oxy moron. I dont have a household where the husband effectively pampers you or keeps the kids in line, so I would really be stressed out if I did come home early with the little baby and a 6, 5, 3, and 2 yr old to manage, too.
I've been nesting like a wild woman- trying to control as much as I have in my control until I no longer have a choice.
The "what-if's are driving me loony, and "Relax" is not in my vocabulary for at least another, oh- who knows?
I still have to get together a bag of clothes for the kids in case this all happens in the middle of the night or early morning, I have to get a baby bag together, a bag for ME, a printed out list of people's info I want to inform once real labor begins, instructions for whoever ends up watching the kids which can be anyone since we dont know anyone, really. *SIGH*
I also wanted to have a folder available for all the paperwork they load you with afterwards- the information sheets, the wavers, etc.
I also need to get some sort video camera lined up (I have one that takes little clips but thats it).
I need to get the kids rooms in order, too- something manageable.
They all pulled out bins with old clothes, toys, blankets etc which is intermixed with their own stuff. I have to get as much out of their reach as possible so that they are manageable when Im on my baby vacation *grin*.
I still dont have a new bassinet (with the drop down side) that I wanted to get, I have a crib with a bassinet attachment but it's too tall and hard to reach for night nursing, as well as has holes cut in the netting on the sides.
MAN, I feel nuts.
Somebody crack me open and make some nice baklava out of me....
